Organic blankets are biodegradable organic nets or fabrics of vegetable fibres which are spread over a surface and fixed to ground, adapting to it and covering it.
These biodegradable geotextiles help vegetation to colonise dry, eroded and sloping land. The blankets retain humidity, help the seeds to take hold and protect the land from wind and heavy rain. They degrade gradually as the slope is colonised by the vegetation. This method is combined with hydro-sowing.
